The state of the art outpatient facility planned in two phases will place our highly successful outpatient mental health programming in a continuum proximity that allows for easy access between traditional outpatient services—psychiatry, psychology, and therapeutic counseling—and our more specialized outpatient treatment services for longer term needs. It is one more giant step in our efforts to have the power of hope meet the power of change. Our programs continue to involve growing numbers of success stories that have made a difference for people. Helping them to write new life chapters filled with joy and new found satisfaction.
Why launch this capital campaign? Until 2004 Penn Foundation had not invested in new on-campus facilities since 1987 when they built the first phase of the Recovery Center. The main building was last renovated in 1978. Located in Upper Bucks County our facilities are centered in a fast growing area of Southeastern Pennsylvania. In the year 2000 the regional planning groups in Bucks and Montgomery Counties projected a 40 percent increase in population between 2000 and 2030 for this area. At this time our facilities were already inadequate forcing us to rent off-campus locations to provide many of our services. As a solid investment for the future of our community our Board of Directors recommended we expand our facilities using more of the 30 acres of land on our Main Campus at 807 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, Pennsylvania. Why create a full continuum of mental health outpatient services? Many of our traditional outpatient services, including psychiatry, psychology, therapeutic counseling and group therapy, need freestanding facilities with more convenient access to intake, billing and therapeutic offices. The design of Phase I of the expansion and renovation of our outpatient services will help facilitate these needs. In addition renovations to the existing main building (Phase II) will provide the special training areas and private one-to-one coaching areas needed for our specialized programming including a medication clinic designed for clinical trials and med checks, case management coaching, and specialized one-to-one programming for people with serious and persistent mental illness and individuals that also have a co-occurring substance use disorder.
There has been a lot of construction activity involving Penn Foundation. Who has paid for it all? And how much more money is needed to finish the projects? Over the past 4 years Penn Foundation has planned construction of 4 new projects:
